Electric Motor
Boasting a whopping 1700W electric motor, the AdvancedRotak 650 is one of the larger motors on the Rotak range, making it best suited for medium and large sized gardens.
While many electric lawn mowers struggle with long and wet grass, the AdvancedRotak 650 has ample power to handle overgrown lawns, making it a good choice for bigger lawns that are left to grow during the seasons.
Of course, AdvancedRotak 650 is great for people that regularly mow too, providing a lovely finish at any cutting height. It offers decent speed and manoeuvrability for such a large lawn mower, although be mindful of using it in tight spaces as its quite a chunky unit.
A cool addition to this electric motor is the ProSilence function. This reduces the noise output of the AdvancedRotak 650, making it much quieter than many smaller sized lawn mowers. This is a great feature for those wary about making too much noise when cutting the grass.
Cutting Width
The ground steel blade measures 41cm, so the AdvancedRotak 650 has a larger cutting width than most others, being recommended for lawns up to 650smq!
This is why its such a good choice for large lawns, as you can glide across bigger spaces without needing to make as many passes, saving a lot of time and effort.
Despite being a wider lawn mower, it is still easy to navigate around the lawn, although do give yourself more space when turning, as it’s quite a big lawn mower to begin with! This does benefit wide lawns though, as the blade mows through a lot of the lawn in a single pass.
As previously mentioned, there are instances where this wide cutting deck isn’t the best suited for smaller lawns. Yes, it will make short work of the grass in a few passes but it can be quite difficult to manoeuvre in tight spots, so bear this in mind if your lawn is narrower or has lots of awkward angles.
Cutting Height
Offering an impressive seven cutting heights, the AdvancedRotak 650 gives you all the options you need for year-round lawn maintenance. Not many lawn mowers offer so many height options, so any gardening enthusiasts that love a well-maintained lawn throughout the year will appreciate this.
The heights range from 20 to 80mm, so you can adjust the blade height to suit lawns of any condition. Whether it’s left wild and unkept over the winter months or being regular cut during summer, its easy to find the right setting for each situation.
Of course, just remember to avoid using low settings on longer grass. It’s important to remove a short amount of length each time, so if using on overgrown lawns stick to higher blade heights, lowering them with each subsequent mow.
Best of all, the height is so easy to adjust. Many mowers have awkward placed levers or levers that are stiff to move, but this isn’t a problem with the AdvancedRotak 650. The blade adjustment is integrated into the central cutting and you just push a button to get the desired blade height – so much easier than most other lawn mowers!
Ergomonics
The AdvancedRotak 650 has ergonomically design double handles that make pushing around the heavier unit a lot easier. They are shaped perfectly for your hands and feature soft grip padding so you don’t feel excessive vibrations, which is important considering how powerful the lawn mower is.
You won’t feel any sort of fatigue in your hands or back, although at 16kg it may be too heavy for some people to use. This is to be expected for any larger lawn mower but at 16kg it’s still not the heaviest on the market. Another model in the Rotak range, the very popular Bosch Rotak 32R is designed for smaller gardens.
The handles also feature an ErgoSlide system. This is basically telescopic handles that don’t need too much force to move, letting you easily adjust the positioning to suit your own height. Even as a larger lawn mower, the AdvancedRotak 650 is comfortable to operate and doesn’t require to much exertion to push around the lawn.
Grass Box, Grass Comb, and LeafCollect
As the AdvancedRotak 650 is designed for huge lawns up to 650sqm, it makes sense to have a sizeable grass box to gather all the cuttings! The 50L grass box offers a good capacity and probably won’t need emptied unless you are mowing on an especially large lawn.
Better still, the grass box has a filling gauge that clearly shows when it needs emptied, so you don’t need to constantly stop and check the box to see how full it is. There is also an integrated carry handle for when you empty it, while the box can even collapse into a compact size for storage.
The lawn mower blade also has a handy LeafCollect design. This unique design makes it easier to gather up leaves from the lawn and slice them up alongside the grass. You won’t need to rake or use a leaf blower – just let the AdvancedRotak 650 deal with the leaves!
There’s also a grass comb feature which helps with edging. Fitted to the edge of the cutting deck, it gathers up those stray bits of grass along edges, borders, fences, paths, and flower beds that normal lawn mowers struggle to cut.
